Appreciative cooperation in tourism

Project #G.A.S.T. offers workshop series

Schmallenberg. On February 04, 2019 at 2 p.m. the survey results from the project will be presented at a kick-off event in the climbing hall Sauerland. In addition, there will be an exciting keynote speech and a preview of the topics of the planned workshop series.
An important goal of the project #G.A.S.T. is the sensitization of the tourism enterprises for the topics of skilled worker production, - motivation and - connection. From February to June, workshops are to be held to sensitise employers to the topic of "long-term securing of skilled workers" and to provide them with appropriate support in the implementation of innovative measures. The workshops are designed to enable companies to develop new trends in personnel management. The 5-part workshop series aims to address the importance of management culture, employee retention and development and to show how to create a company working environment in which employers and employees feel equally comfortable. Employers receive new impulses for their own work and can thus develop innovative concepts for the future.
In a further step, workshop offers for employees in tourism will be created later on, which will deal with professional contents as well as personal work and motivation topics.

Kick-off event with presentation of the survey results
The project management organisation will give the starting signal for the workshops on Monday, 04 February 2019 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the climbing hall Sauerland as part of a kick-off event. At the beginning, Prof. Dr. Susanne Leder from the University of Applied Sciences Südwestfalen will present the results of the needs analysis, which was carried out last summer among both employers and employees.
Following this, Antonio Guida from the management consultancy TEAM Hotel Consult GmbH in Erwitte will give an introduction to the topic "Appreciative cooperation in tourism - Where does the industry stand today and how can we master the challenges of the future? Guida has been working in various areas of the gastronomy and hotel industry for over 35 years and has worked in internationally renowned hotels throughout Europe. Since 2002, he has been showing feasible and individually developed ways and concepts within the scope of his management consultancy, which make medium-sized hotels successful and future-proof.
Employees and other interested parties are invited to the kick-off event, as are employers.

The #G.A.S.T. project
Since May 2018, the project has been concerned with attracting and retaining well-trained professionals in the hotel and catering industry. The premise is to actively counteract the shortage of skilled workers and to develop joint measures which, for example, guarantee optimal training, enable existing skilled workers to continue their education, offer special appreciation and opportunities and, of course, generate new talent, whether from the region or beyond. For this purpose, under the leadership of the Verkehrsverein Schmallenberger Sauerland as the project sponsor and under the umbrella of the Schmallenberger Sauerland Tourism, a network has been formed which will support the project. Among the project partners are the city of Schmallenberg, DEHOGA - Schmallenberg, Schmallenberg Unternehmen Zukunft (SUZ), Sauerland Tourismus as well as the Südwestfalen Agentur. The model project 'Land(auf)Schwung' of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) enables the financing of various measures for this purpose as well as the provision of a project coordinator for 18 months.
