Esmecke-Stausee with Wenholthausen
A real insider tip in the vacation world EsloheThe Esmecke-Stausee in Wenholthausenalso known as "Einbergsee". Surrounded by forest with a large sunbathing lawn, this small bathing lake is a wonderful place to relax. The secluded bathing bay is easily accessible and the water of the lake is evenly warm. A DLRG station ensures the safety of visitors. Just above the bathing bay, near the dam wall, there is a small kiosk, which is also a popular stop-off point for bikers.
Hennesee in Meschede
On the edge of the district town Meschede the Hennesee is a scenic eye-catcher and a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. The shores of the reservoir offer accommodation for excursionists of all kinds: hiking, cycling, swimming or boating, everything is possible. Via the newly created "Himmelstreppe" and the HenneBoulevard, it is just under two kilometers to Meschede town centre with its pedestrian zone and several cosy cafés. The "white fleet" excursion boat crosses the lake at regular intervals.
Lakes in the surrounding area
One of the largest reservoirs in the Sauerland, and also the deepest, is located near Sundern. The Sorpesee extends in the north of the nature park Homert and offers countless quiet and secluded bays for swimming and relaxing.
During the season between Easter and October, the passenger boat "MS Sorpesee" runs excursions on the lake. Water sports, adventure trails, promenades with refreshment stops - all this and much more awaits you on a trip to the Sorpesee.

The Bigge- and Listersee is the largest reservoir in NRW. It stretches between the district town Olpe in the south and Attendorn in the far north.
Two excursion boats, the "MS Westfalen" and the "MS Bigge", sail regularly across the water during the summer months. Attractive excursion restaurants, beautiful cycling and hiking trails and numerous water sports facilities provide guests with the best vacation enjoyment year after year. The diving school, for example, introduces you to life below the water's surface Biggesee.

Fancy some action? Then head for the "Wake & Water" facility in Winterberg on Hillebachsee. Here you can experience water skiing and wakeboarding for everyone - from beginner to pro, from young to young at heart. There is an 800-metre-long cable car that takes water skiers and wakeboarders across the Hillebachsee pulls.
