The programme for the Advent and Christmas season, organised by many local associations and initiatives, leaves nothing to be desired. It invites you: For example, spending time together, discovering nature in winter, following a Christmas tree path, exploring beautiful nativity scenes or listening to festive concerts. There is something for every taste and age. During these excursions, the Advent season unfolds its very own magic.
Special exhibitions
The Museum DampfLandLeute in Eslohe also offers an exhibition "Fascination Paper Nativities", which includes the smallest nativity scene in the world and the Westphalian Slate Mining and Local History Museum has taken up the theme "Christmas in the First World War". More than 200 exhibits from this period illustrate the Christmas celebrations of the years 1914 to 1918 and show impressively how this celebration was used for war propaganda.
Contemplative markets
Anyone who is interested in visiting the Christmas market will also find what they are looking for in our region. Small, contemplative markets invite you to stroll and meet people. The scent of almonds and punch meets arts and crafts and small gifts. The local music clubs provide the appropriate background music. Enjoy the Advent and Christmas season in a different way.

Five days in the middle of the hiking world in the winter magic of
Schmallenberg. When frost and cold prevail in winter, nature takes a break. It becomes quiet in the woods and meadows and the landscape radiates a special peace. Take in these impressions on a five-day hiking tour through the Schmallenberger Sauerland and the holiday region Eslohe. A total of about 47 kilometres lead you from the Romanesque parish church St. Cyriakus in Berghausen over mountains and through valleys to Reiste, Wenholthausen and Cobbenrode. On the last day you reach Berghausen again. Luggage transfer, a detailed description of the route, a pleasant wine tasting in Wenholthausen and a stay in the beautiful inns along the route will provide you with relaxation and peace and quiet.
